This will explain the steps to take in order to become a member of the Desert Hawks RC Club.


First, the Desert Hawks will need proof that you've joined the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics).  You will need the Full Membership Program, not the Park Pilot Program membership.  The Full Membership Program provides all the insurance for you and our site owner, so this membership is an absolute requirement.  You can join the AMA by filling out an AMA membership application and mailing your dues to them.  I takes a few weeks to get your AMA card so you can show it to us as proof of AMA membership.  OR, you can go to the AMA website (www.modelaircraft.org) and join on-line (look for the Member Application Center and choose "New Members").  This will greatly speed up the process.  If you receive a confirmation e-mail from them you can use this as proof of membership in AMA, or wait until you receive your AMA card.

Second, once you have your AMA card, or other proof of membership from them (and your AMA number), you can fill out a Desert Hawks application form.  Now, you need to give the form to the Membership Chairman or to any Club Officer.  You can also attend a club meeting and join there.  Club meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Mohave County Library in Lake Havasu City, but are usually not held during the Summer months.  At any rate, you will receive a Desert Hawks membership card which you must use at the impound board every time you fly.
